Restaurant Week is back! Between October 25 and November 18 is Restaurant Week in Spain. It has become one of the largest gastronomic festivals in the world that gathers more people year after year.
This year marks its 5th year anniversary, set up by the restaurant booking website The Fork (El Tenedor) to give everyone a chance to try haute cuisine as well as giving back. 5oo top restaurants in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Malaga, Seville and Palma de Mallorca will offer menus of 25, 45, 75 and 125 euros, this initiative gives the opportunity to the masses to eat popular menus at some of the top restaurants in Spain.
Restaurant Week is also about giving back, and from ever dinner the restaurant will donate 1 euro to the NGO Ayuda en Acción. Last year more than 50,000 euros was raised. ¨This year they hope to surpass this figure and that this solidarity euro continues to help fight child poverty in our country, “says Marcos Alves, CEO and founder of ElTenedor.
The NGO Ayuda en Acción, will dedicate the money raised to its program ¨Aquí también¨, which works to reduce social inequality in Spain. Since 2013, Ayuda en Acción has expanded its work in Spain with this program through direct intervention of poverty by breaking the cycle of poverty passing from generation to generation and provide, among others, the right to a balanced diet to families.
